Smoke Test Demonstration

For proper firing range ventilation, laminar airflow should pull any smoke away from the respiratory region of the shooter. There are three regions of primary concern, the respiratory regions for a standing, kneeling, or prone position shooter. In this tactical range, we are demonstrating proper airflow at the back firing line of the range, the line behind which no weapons discharge is allowed. Because this is a tactical range, with no stalls, shooters may advance upon the targets in the range to practice approach and response techniques. Smoke tests performed on the range should show a smooth flow of air down range, with no indication of turbulent flow, until pulled up to the exhaust plenum. This test, and all air balancing, should be performed on a clean range with no obstructions.
