Small Arms Range Ventilation Misconceptions
What you shoot will change the design of the ventilation design:
It does not matter what type of rounds that are shot, what type of ammunition that you use or how much you shoot in a small arms range. The design suggested below should be used for all ranges.
The range can be designed at anywhere from 50 feet per minute to 75 feet per minute:
The range should be designed for 75 Feet per minute at the firing line or lines. This should result in an air flow that is not below 50 feet per minute at any individual point.
Air flow tests should be done with people or manikins in the shooting positions:
All air flow testing should be done on an empty range. This testing and commissioning procedure has proven to insure meeting OSHA exposure levels.
